Can Botox be used to smooth these wrinkles or is a browlift recommended?

Submitted by admin on April 24, 2011

When I raise my eyebrows, I get deep horizontal wrinkles on my forehead. Most of the time they are not quite as deep but are still very noticeable. Can Botox be used to smooth these wrinkles or is a browlift recommended?

Horizontal winkles on the forehead are very common sign of skin aging and are effectively treated with Botox. Occasionally the lines can be deeper and present without brow movement these are sometimes best treated with a combination of fillers and Botox. Browlift surgery is generally reserved for drooping of the eyebrows, this often happens with increasing age. Although a brow lift does rejuvenate the appearance of the face by elevating the eyebrows and opening up the eyes it will not necessarily stop wrinkles in the forehead as this is caused by an underlying muscle that will continue to function after the browlift. Botox and fillers currently are the best way to reduce horizontal wrinkles across the forehead.
