Dr Chaw Su Kyi, Clinical Director

Dr. Chaw Su Kyi is a London Specialist Orthodontist who specializes only in orthodontic brace treatments. Dr Kyi does not perform cosmetic dentistry or teeth whitening. Dr. Kyi has considerable experience in all brace and teeth straightening options from working in multiple World Class London Hospitals. She won an impressive quadruple distinction at Guy’s, King’s and St.Thomas’s medical school, and received a prestigious distinction in her orthodontics Masters, following this she has continued to deliver exceptional care and excellence to all her patients. Dr. Kyi was nominated by her peers for Best London Orthodontist (2010) for her orthodontic practice.

By concentrating only on orthodontics, unlike general dentists who perform many other procedures, Dr. Kyi has obtained vast practical experience and developed innovative techniques to match the needs of his patients, such as the rapid brace treatment and invisible braces techniques. As the clinical director of WeLCOMe Orthodontics in London and Winchester, a CQC (Care Quality Commission) approved facility, Dr. Kyi was recognized as an expert on the latest advances in orthodontics. She has pioneered the use of high definition digital radiograph technology, to provide the ultimate in accuracy of assessment, dramatically reducing the need for surgery and expediting treatment. Dr Kyi’s goal is to help her patients look better and feel better about themselves, her techniques have been featured in peer-reviewed orthodontic surgery journals as well as on national newspapers and in international magazines.

By offering all orthodontic brace options Dr Kyi is able to give the best advice with impartiality: Lingual braces, Damon braces, Invisalign braces, Clarity braces, Six-month smiles. Some of these braces are only suitable for select cases and Dr Kyi is regularly referred cases that have had unsuitable treatments, her clientele is from all parts of the World and she prides herself on perfection. Dr. Kyi believes the teeth have to be in harmony with the face to achieve a winning smile. For example, just moving the front teeth with a set of invisalign or short six month smile braces may not necessarily lead to lasting result, and relapse may occur. Sometimes, Dr. Kyi will utilize a specialist surgeon to complete a surgical tooth extraction to achieve the critical balance required and give a lifetime result in teeth straightening and great smile. Finally, Dr. Kyi will not stop until you are 100 percent happy with your teeth. Computer imaging is sometimes used in consultation to understand the patient’s desires better, which is critical to a happy patient. Dr. Kyi believes that she can give you a beautiful smile, not just because of her technical innovations and orthodontic advances, but also because of her artistic understanding of anatomy, obsession with detail and an in-depth communication with her patients.

Katherine qualified in dentistry from The Royal London Hospital Medical & Dental School in 1998, having also obtained a BSc in physiology during this time. This was followed by further training in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery at UCH & Great Ormond Street hospitals. This inspired her interest in facial surgery and she was awarded a degree in medicine from Bart’s and the Royal London Hospital, University of London, in 2004, qualifying with distinction.

After her medical degree she gained experience in general surgery, anaesthetics, ENT surgery, orthopaedic surgery and accident and emergency medicine. Katherine is currently a specialist registrar in facial surgery at St George’s Hospital, London. She is actively involved in research & has published a number of research papers in medical journals during her career.

Katherine has considerable experience within the facial region and facial anatomy, being trained in the specialist area of facial surgery. We are proud to welcome Katherine to provide our facial aesthetics treatments for you. Practice Manager: Nicolina

I enjoy being a Practice Manager, as I find it very challenging and rewarding. It has given me the opportunity to further myself in my career but most importantly, it has given me the ability to do what I love best and that is, taking on responsibility for my every day-to-day managerial role and being able to contribute to ideas, show my organization skills and put structure into my work.

One of the greatest rewards working at WeLCOMe is knowing that patients are confident to approach me should they have any concerns in regards to orthodontic treatment and I am always so happy to see how excited they are when they finally reach their ‘perfect smile’. Unfortunately for me, it is always so sad to see them go when they have completed their orthodontic treatment, because I feel like I have formed a close and personal friendship with them.

In the past year, my responsibilities have also included visiting primary schools in the local area of Hammersmith to educate young children on oral hygiene. To help further my career, I am studying to obtain ILM Level 5 Diploma in Management which will recognize my qualifications in management as a Dental Practice Manager.

Orthodontic Dental Nurse: Ivana 

My name is Ivana and I’ve been working as a qualified dental nurse for 9 years and have carried out further training and have gained my qualification in Dental Radiography. I joined WeLCOMe Orthodontics in January 2009 and is a pleasure being a member of the WeLCOME Orthodontics team. I get great satisfaction from my role as an orthodontic dental nurse, which allows me to interact with patients on a one-to-one basis and develop a trustworthy relationship with them.

It is important for me to know patient’s can trust me as I genuinely care for the treatment they are going to undertake. I really enjoy being part of the team. Both Dr Kyi and Nicolina have helped me to achieve to become more confident, knowledgeable and develop opportunities in further training.
