A removable brace is a simple brace often used in children to correct minor tooth mal-alignments for example pushing a tooth forward, correcting the overbite. It can be worn on the upper or lower arch. A removable brace may be the only treatment but often it is part of a treatment plan involving fixed braces.
Orthodontic treatment can be started at any age, however some orthodontic problems in children are easier to correct if detected before jaw growth has slowed. Functional appliances are removable braces and if fitted at the appropriate age can help correct jaw disharmonies and reduce the need of future complex orthodontic treatment for the child. In some children the upper teeth are further ahead then the lower teeth with the lower jaw slightly set back in profile. A functional appliance brace is worn full time for a period of 9-12months and during this time the brace harnesses the facial muscles and growth to produce the changes in the teeth to correct the bite.
We can see your child without delay to enable appropriate treatment at the appropriate age.

Before treatment: this patient wore functional braces for 12 months, followed by fixed braces for 12 months and no teeth needed to be removed.
