For the past 12 months I have been under the orthodontic care of Dr. Chaw Su Kyi and her team at WeLCOMe, Hammersmith. I have undergone treatment on the upper set of teeth and opted for the ceramic train-track style of orthodontic brace. I would highly recommend Chaw Su's practice to anyone considering orthodontic treatment. Her approach has been friendly and professional from the start, putting me at ease with the process from day one. The team has worked well to accommodate the demands of my job - the clean, modern, inviting surgery is open during lunchtimes and evenings on a regular basis which, for me, was an important factor when choosing the right orthodontic practice. It is also ideally located, just minutes from the Hammersmith & City, Piccadilly and District tube lines. The treatment process, from the first consultation to the removal of the fitted brace and supply of the retainer, has been incredibly smooth. Throughout the year, the team has been in regular contact to organize check-ups and keep me fully updated with my dental progression. If you're worried that orthodontic treatment will hurt, please don't be! From my personal experience it really is nothing to fret about. At the very start I suffered a few minor mouth ulcers - but nothing more irritating than those cause by an old toothbrush. Ever since then, I have had absolutely no discomfort and could almost forget I was wearing braces! And for those worried about their image... I found the ceramic braces subtle enough that I really didn't look like Ugly Betty! "I had real complexes with my upper front teeth as they were moving forward. I met with Dr. Chaw Su Kyi who helped me chose the lingual braces for treatment. The first 2-3 weeks were a little bit difficult as I needed to get used to them and overcome some initial pronunciation issues. But after 3 weeks I could speak normally again.
