As a thirty three year old who was recently told that he might need braces, Invisalign seems like an attractive option. But if I am going to fix my teeth, I want to get it right the first time. Is Invisalign a reasonable stand-in for normal braces?

Invisalign often works very well for mild cases. It is a great choice for those who really do not want to have something fixed in the mouth, i.e. fixed braces. With Invisalign, you can take them out to brush your teeth and for eating. Also, Invisalign will offer a great appearance as they are clear aligners, most people won’t notice you are wearing them. These are quite important factors as an adult considering brace treatment. However, there are limitations with Invisalign and the more severe cases will most certainly improve, you may not achieve as good a result compared to wearing fixed braces. Nowadays, fixed braces have come a long way. You have the ultimate no-show brace being lingual braces which are completely invisible as the brace is fitted on the inside. With lingual braces you will have the same results as normal conventional braces but you do not compromise on appearance. Ceramic braces provide excellent appearance for normal conventional fixed braces, and now we have Damon Clear braces which are clear brackets on the upper front 6 smiling teeth. There are many brace options now available for you as an adult and you should definitely explore all types of braces which would be suitable for you.
