I have been reading about the Damon self-ligating braces and how ‘painless’ they are compared to normal braces

I have been reading about the Damon self-ligating braces and how 'painless' they are compared to normal braces, but I am a little wary. Do they hurt as much as normal braces?

We always describe the process of getting used to braces is similar to wearing a new pair of shoes. Initially they may feel uncomfortable, a little tight, but after wearing the shoes for a week they often become your favourite pair of shoes. It’s a similar situation with getting used to braces. The slight difference with Damon braces is that the wire is not held in so tightly the level of discomfort is often a little less than conventional fixed braces. Often a mild painkiller will help alleviate the discomfort with brace treatment.
