Invisalign for Teens: Understanding the Treatment Timeline
As an orthodontist at West London Orthodontist Cosmetic Dental Studios, I get how important it is for teens and the parents to know how long the Invisalign treatment might take. The times can vary depending on how complex the case is. On average, it’s usually between 12 to 18 months, but for some patients, they might see results they want in as little as six months. Just remember the success and how long the treatment takes. Really depends on the patient wearing the aligners for the recommended 20 to 22 hours a day. It’s also really important to have regular checkups to keep an eye on the progress and make any tweaks if needed. Here at West London Orthodontist Cosmetic Dental Studios, we’re all about providing treatment plans that work effectively and efficiently and that are designed for each individual patient’s needs. We are really proud to offer Invisalign as a comfortable, almost invisible alternative to traditional braces. If you are in and around London and you’re thinking about orthodontic treatment for your kid or your teen, please give us a call on oh (208) 812-9686. Post-Invisalign Care: What You Need to Know
Here at West London Orthodontist Cosmetic Dental Studios, we’re firm believers that the aftercare is just as vital as the treatment itself. So once your child or teen wraps up their Invisalign treatment, we’ve got a thorough aftercare plan in place to make sure that those results last. First of all, we’re going to give your child retainers. These are custom-made clear plastic devices that they’ll wear at night to keep the teeth in their new position. It’s really important that they wear these as in structured to keep the alignment we achieve with Invisalign. Next, we strongly recommend regular dental checkups. This lets us keep an eye on how things are going after the treatment and make sure that the teeth and gums stay healthy. Regular cleanings are also key to keeping up oral hygiene and warding of any potential dental problems. And finally, we are big on educating our patients. We’ll give you tips on how to keep up good oral hygiene like brushing, flossing, using mouthwash, and we’ll also guide you on a diet and lifestyle choice that can affect dental health. Don’t forget the success of your treatment doesn’t stop when the Invisalign brace comes off. It’s about sticking to the plan to keep those results, which includes following the aftercare plan. We’re always here to help and answer any questions you might have. Just give us a call on (020) 8129-6868.
We can’t wait to help your child or teen get a gorgeous, healthy smile and keep it that way for the long haul.

The Power of Invisalign: Success Stories of Kids & Teens at West London Orthodontist
Sure thing, we’d be more than happy to share some of our success stories of kids who’ve had Invisalign treatment at West London Orthodontist cosmetic dental studios. We reckon these stories will not only inspire you, but also show you how effective Invisalign can be. We have Stephanie, who was a 12-year-old girl with a big overbite and a small mouth. She was initially provided with a functional brace on the NHS, but came to see me as she found the brace was incredibly uncomfortable to wear as it was big and cumbersome. We fitted Invisalign mandibular advancement system, and we were able to correct her overbite and straighten her teeth. But most of all, it was so comfortable to wear the whole treatment process and experience with Stephanie and her parents was so smooth and super easy for them. And there’s Tom, who was a 15-year-old boy. He wasn’t happy with his teeth, but felt very self-conscious of his smile. And he also, he didn’t want to wear fixed braces because he felt this would draw more attention on his teeth. We treated him with Invisalign and what a difference it made for him as his teeth straightened whilst wearing the Invisalign, Tom gave beaming smiles during his treatment. His smile has changed, but more importantly, all throughout the process, he became more self-confidence and did not hide his smile at all.
Hear from Our Patients: Invisalign® Success Stories
So I decide to have the Invisalign. It’s been a little over a year. It took a long time for me to do it just because I did some research and I wanted a solution. Then it was quite discreet and that looks like I don’t have anything. Yeah, I checked the reviews of the procedure and that’s why I decide to go for that. After I will say six months, I immediately noticed a change in my smile. I’m generally a shy person, so having that extra cosmetic help, it made me feel like, you know what? I can smile. I can interact with my clients, with my colleagues, with people in general, without feelings of conscious, having a good doctor will make the difference, and so far you have proved me right. Dr. Chaw-Su Kyi is being amazing. She explained the process. She was kind enough to walk me through the stage, always being very honest of how the process will be, which I think that’s the main key. The West London team is being fantastic. From booking the appointment to the support that she has with us is just been great.
Before I got the Invisalign, I couldn’t exactly properly close my mouth, and so I looked from the side of the mirror and I was like [gasp]. My teeth, I just thought I wanted to have Invisalign. Plus I didn’t want anyone to see, so then no one can see that I’ve got something on my teeth or anything. It was ish at first because it made my teeth feel weird, like I had something sticking to my gums. I got used to it. In the end, I just recommend Invisalign instead of having something to be seen on your teeth. It’s just invisible. You don’t think about it as much. My trouble was thinking about it, and I don’t like thinking about stuff too much. I’ve seen a lot of changes towards the front teeth because they sort of seem to be pushing back, and now when I look at this side of my teeth, they don’t seem to stick out as much. I feel fine taking it out. It feels good just not having something stuck in my teeth the whole time so I can just take it out and eat. It’s nice because she’s smiley. I don’t usually have smiley dentists. I look forward to hearing stuff and I sort of learn stuff when I come here and I like that.

How old do you have to be to get Invisalign aligners?
Invisalign® is a trusted name in the world of aligner therapy. The aligners we provide are tailored to match each patient’s unique dental contours. Crafted from smooth, flexible, and see-through plastic, these aligners are easily removed for eating, brushing, or flossing. Their design contributes to a convenient, comfortable, and low-key treatment journey while also effectively repositioning your teeth. When used correctly, the constant force the clear aligners apply gradually guides your teeth into the desired alignment.
Based on your age, specific requirements, and Dr. Kyi’s comprehensive orthodontic assessment, the following Invisalign® treatments may be beneficial:
- Invisalign First. Designed for young patients aged seven to ten, Invisalign First can help correct harmful habits like thumb-sucking that might lead to narrow dental arches or impact the placement of a child’s teeth. These aligners help enhance the arch size, direct permanent teeth into the right positions, reduce the chance of cavities, improve biting and chewing function, and elevate a child’s self-esteem! Crafted from SmartTrack material, the aligners comfortably fit your child’s mouth, ensuring easy compliance. They are easily removable by children, and they can be readily replaced, or the previous aligner can be used to maintain the treatment progress. In most cases, early intervention with Invisalign First offers a faster solution than conventional braces, typically taking six to twelve months. Post-treatment, a retainer is required to maintain the results into adulthood.
- Invisalign Teen. Our adolescent patients appreciate these clear devices for their discreet nature and non-interference with their lively lifestyles. The lightweight, removable aligners allow them to indulge in their favourite foods and sports and even play wind instruments without a hitch. It typically takes a day or two to adjust to these aligners, and with good compliance, their dream smile can be achieved in about one year or less.
- Invisalign. You’re never too old for a winning smile! More adults are now enjoying the benefits of orthodontic treatment. Our adult patients appreciate how these aligners blend seamlessly into their lifestyles and are virtually invisible during social interactions or work-related video calls. Mild cosmetic cases can generally be treated within six months, while more complex bite issues may take around one year to 15 months to correct.

Invisalign FAQs
How much does Invisalign cost in London?
In London, Invisalign treatments generally cost between £2,500 and £5,500. The price depends on the complexity of the case, the length of treatment, and the experience of the orthodontist. Typically, more extensive cases that require longer treatment times will be at the higher end of the price range. It’s advisable to consult with a local Invisalign provider for an accurate estimate based on individual needs.
Is Invisalign covered by NHS?
Invisalign is not typically covered by the NHS as it is considered a cosmetic treatment. The NHS only provides orthodontic treatment for children and young adults with severe dental issues or medical needs, not for cosmetic improvements. Adults seeking Invisalign will usually need to pay for it privately.
Is Invisalign cheaper than braces in the UK?
Invisalign is generally comparable in cost to traditional braces in the UK, with prices ranging from £2,500 to £5,500 for both options. However, Invisalign might be more expensive for complex cases. The choice between Invisalign and braces often depends on personal preference and specific dental needs rather than cost alone.
Can you get Invisalign for free in the UK?
Invisalign is not available for free through the NHS, as it is classified as a cosmetic treatment. Some private dental practices may offer financing options or payment plans to make Invisalign more affordable. It is important to discuss payment options with your orthodontist to find a plan that fits your budget.
Can you eat with Invisalign?
You should remove Invisalign aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water. Eating with the aligners in place can cause damage to the aligners and may lead to stains or trapped food particles, which can affect oral hygiene and the fit of the aligners.
What’s faster, braces or Invisalign?
For some patients, Invisalign can be faster than traditional braces. The duration of treatment with Invisalign usually ranges from 6 to 18 months, depending on the complexity of the case. Traditional braces may take 18 to 24 months. However, the exact time frame depends on individual dental issues and the prescribed treatment plan.
Can I sleep with Invisalign?
Yes, you can and should sleep with Invisalign aligners in place. They are designed to be worn 20 to 22 hours a day, including while you sleep, to ensure effective and timely teeth movement. Removing them while sleeping can hinder progress and extend the overall treatment time.
Is Invisalign painful?
Invisalign is generally less painful than traditional braces. Some discomfort or pressure is normal as your teeth adjust to the aligners, especially when you switch to a new set of aligners. This discomfort is usually mild and temporary, resolving as your teeth adapt to the new aligners.
Can I leave my Invisalign out for three hours?
Leaving your Invisalign aligners out for extended periods, such as three hours, is not recommended, as it can delay your treatment progress. The aligners should be worn 20 to 22 hours a day. Prolonged removal can interfere with the treatment plan and extend the overall duration of your orthodontic treatment.
