I am terrified of needles but I still want to pursue Botox injections.

Written by Dr. Chaw Su Kyi on December 22, 2011

I am terrified of needles but I still want to pursue Botox injections. I think that is the best way to treat my frown lines from what I have read online. Do the injections hurt? If so, is there any topical anesthetic that you can give me so that they don't.

Sorry to hear about your fear, but please be assured we don't think any of our patients 'look forward' to that part of the procedure! Quite a number of our patients have similar concerns. The first thing to say is we are able to put some local numbing anaesthetic cream on your skin beforehand so you won't be able to feel anythin...

I have very crooked teeth. Is fixing them only a matter of aesthetics?

Written by Dr. Chaw Su Kyi on October 21, 2011

I have very crooked teeth. Is fixing them only a matter of aesthetics? Is there any health concerns associated with crooked teeth?

How do pacifiers affect the look of teeth?

Written by Dr. Chaw Su Kyi on October 18, 2011

How do pacifiers affect the look of teeth? My son is 3.5 years old.

When you suck your thumb or a dummy, the pressure of the thumb can push the upper front teeth forwards, the lower teeth backwards. The cheeks which are moving to suck the dummy/thumb can narrow the upper back teeth, If you try sucking your thumb now, you can easily see how the cheek muscles are moving and where the thumb is ...

How do you address teeth that are overcrowded?

Written by Dr. Chaw Su Kyi on October 17, 2011

How do you address teeth that are overcrowded? Do teeth need to be pulled or can braces straighten them out?

To straighten teeth, overcrowded or crooked teeth, we need space in which to straighten them. In mild cases, only a small amount of space is needed, and we can find this small amount of space already in t...
